Hello! I'm Amy Plew

I am a passionate individual who leads change with her heart.  l have been described as dedicated, loyal, honest, and do not give up.  My path to leadership studies was unconventional, as I have continued my education throughout my professional career while working full-time.  I have over twenty years in the C-Suite working with some great CEOs, and their leadership styles have influenced my own leadership. I have valued their impact and mentorship on my personal growth and am committed to sharing what I have learned.

Gaining knowledge through education and experience has enabled me to navigate change leadership in an organization.  By empowering teams through change leadership, I have witnessed time and again the power of team execution.  The impossible becomes possible, and the comradery creates lifelong friendships and deep trust.

After helping to develop the concept at BrandJourney, I was excited to join the leadership team charged with building Leesa from start..

We were quickly successful—growing revenue from $0 to $128M in our first full year—and I played a key role in establishing the company culture and social impact focus as well as supporting the CEO, building collaborative relationships across the company, and managing multiple areas of business operations (HR, Legal, PMO, Investor Relations).

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Spearheading three rounds of funding and managing ongoing investor relations.

  • Championing the pursuit of Certified B status, reflecting our commitment to positive social impact.

  • Driving the creation of the mattress donation program—our company mission and culture in action.

  • Encouraging continual improvement in my staff and promoting a culture of excellence by recognizing value and leading by example.

  • Forging relationships with stakeholders and maintaining trust with team members.

  • Serving as the business steward for legal matters and ensuring compliance standards were upheld and documented.

  • Acting with urgency to maintain momentum and keep projects moving forward.

  • Confidently navigating shifting priorities, focusing on the most strategic programs and actions.

2013-2014

COO

reQUIRE

OPPORTUNITY: The CEO approached me with a challenge I couldn’t resist: Turn around a company that was losing money … while managing an investment infusion and the buy-out of one of the partners.

I moved quickly to stabilize the company and maintain morale throughout a series of transformations while managing all administrative functions and as many as 60 employees.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Securing a new infusion of capital.

  • Orchestrating a smooth transition for the departing partner.

  • Right-sizing the business and reducing headcount to bring expenses in line with income.

  • Creating a firm foundation for future growth by refocusing strategy on our core product.

2007-2012

Director and COO

BRANDJOURNEY

OPPORTUNITY: As I advanced in the company from my initial role as Account Manager, I enjoyed using a wide range of skills—creating marketing strategies and content, managing client relationships, leading and developing teams, planning and executing events—and working across many areas of the business. Ultimately as COO I led all operational areas of the company and collaborated with the executive team on business strategy and major initiatives.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Helping innovators bring their ideas from concept to launch.

  • Working with major brands on creative large-scale promotions—such as the launch of Fresh Express salads and an innovative in-score dietitian program for Safeway.

  • Directing the creation of multi-platform video content for clients in diverse industries.

  • Planning and producing a premier networking event for C-level executives.

  • Participating on the team that steered Leesa Sleep from an idea to a viable business.
